Chanel Takes the ‘Sneakers-With-Everything’ Rule to the Catwalk

Karl Lagerfeld embraced comfort and sent his models down the runway at the recent Chanel SS14’s Haute Couture show wearing–wait for it–sneakers. Well you’re probably thinking, since when does Haute Couture and sneakers share the same sentence? Well according to Uncle Karl, it does. And we can’t argue with that can we? And while we’re all still rocking the Sport Luxe trend (cue Isabel Marant Sneaker Wedges and Céline Skates), I have to say this is pretty good timing Chanel.

Paris shoe Maison Massaro–responsible for these bespoke shoes–reportedly spent 30 hours to make one pair. Costing around €3,000, the sneakers were crafted from python skin and then artfully covered in lace, pearls and tweed. Available in candy shades of pale pink and blue, white or black with delicate, organza-like laces, it would be sacrilegious to hit the gym in these beauties!

The only term and condition these glittery sneakers hold… Available only with the purchase of a full Chanel Haute Couture look. Well I guess us ordinary people should just be content with sprinkling glitter, sticking sequins and bits of lace onto our Nike’s.

What do you think of these sneakers, Yay or Nay? Which one’s your favorite?
