- The title of any alcoholic beverage that enables you to approach and converse without inhibition
- A photostable, regenerative, health-boosting, concentrated antioxidant serum suitable for all skin types
Which of the above descriptions pop into your mind when you think of Liquid Courage? I’m guessing it’ll most likely be the first. No surprises there, unless you’ve heard of the brand YÜLI Skincare (more posts here!), which I’ve given a lot of love to. Not without due reason though, their products truly deliver.
YÜLI’s Liquid Courage promises to:
- Fight free radicals, environmental stress inducers, and fatigue
- Restore, improve, and defend skin
- Produce radiance from within
One of the reasons why I bought Liquid Courage was because Edo Jao lists it as a fashion week staple, and secondly, I was on the hunt for a light facial oil to wear in the day. This pale yellow serum is chock-full of antioxidants with over 20 key actives which help to protect and enhance skin. On top of this, Liquid Courage is 100% photostable, due to the addition of Ferulic Acid (derived from Acai and Argan). Since I live in sunny Singapore, having sufficient protection from harmful UV rays is very important to me.
Liquid Courage is one of the lightest facial oils I’ve ever had the pleasure of massaging into my skin. It absorbs quickly, with barely a few light sweeps of my fingertips. The uplifting neroli scent is not overly sweet, and makes me feel fresh as a daisy. One of the best oils to apply when you’re lacking in the sleep department because your skin will simply glow following application. Liquid Courage is one hard-hitting serum; hydrating dry patches and healing acne breakouts, courtesy of the Botanical Antioxidant Seed Complex and Black Garlic Bioferment combination. To answer your question before you ask, no there’s not the slightest hint of garlic!
If you’ve been following me on my Instagram journey, you’d have known that Liquid Courage travelled with me recently to Sydney, Australia. I aim to travel light, and I wanted a serum that could do double duty and be used day/night. Skin cancers account for 80% of all newly diagnosed cancers in Australia, and though it was winter while I was there, Sydney is one of the sunniest states, so I wanted to be prepared. I am happy to report Liquid Courage performed exceptionally well! Liquid Courage kept my face plump, hydrated and absolutely spot free.
My skin loves its daily dose of Liquid Courage. This antioxidant powerhouse facial oil packs a solid punch, delivering a potent shot of Vitamin C and Vitamin E along with other vital polyphenols, EGCG (a catechin found abundantly in tea), minerals, proteins and fatty acids. My skin simply drinks it all in. I find three drops of the serum massaged into my rose-water dampened visage is all I need to get my glow on. My only gripe is the bottle… I much prefer a dropper bottle to a pump because the oil can make the pump head very oily if it happens to drip down the sides while doling out drops of heavenly goodness.
If you’ve not tried anything from YÜLI before–this is as good a starter facial oil as any–no matter what skin type. Think of it as the one serum to do it all! A 30ml bottle will set you back (USD125), but if you’re unsure how your skin will react to it, YÜLI offers a 7.5ml trial size at (USD50). Yes, it seems pricey but for the stellar ingredients this skin cocktail contains, it is completely worth it.
Botanical Antioxidant Seed Complex (Grapeseed, Pomegranate, Red Raspberry, Blueberry, Carrot Seed, Golden Jojoba Seed, Cranberry Seed), S. chinensis (Jojoba) oil*, A. spinosa (Argan) oil*, supercritical extracts of pomegranate seed, rosehip, seabuckthorn fruit*, R. officinalis (Rosemary) antioxidant extract*, Liquified black garlic ferment, L-Ferulic Acid (Derived from Acai and Argan), tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (vitamin C), C. aurantium (Neroli) oil*, C. atlantica (Cedarwood) oil*, Ubiquinone (Liquid CoEnzyme Q10 from Vegan sources), Soy Peptides, D-alpha tocopherol (Vitamin E)

P.S.: To my dear readers, I just thought I’d let you know I’ll be taking a hiatus from the green beauty circuit because I’ve just gone back to writing full-time. I still hope to share some personal/lifestyle/travel posts when I find the time, so this place won’t be completely dead. If you’d like to keep in touch, you can find me on Twitter/Instagram/Snapchat(@charmystique). I don’t bite!
