Irodori Japanese Restaurant Review: Fresh, Variety, and Value for Your Money

Japanese food can never go wrong. I headed to Irodori, one of my favorite Japanese restaurants for my birthday dinner two weeks back (yes guilty as charged, I haven’t been doing my due diligence blogging!). I’ve been going to Irodori for years now. It’s the sort of place you have to visit every three months to satisfy your craving. One thing that keeps me coming back to Irodori is the generosity in which they slice the Sashimi. Expect thick, fresh, chunks of your favorite Sashimi. I am a huge Sashimi fan, so I’ll order four servings for my first round alone!

For just SGD36.80++, take your pick from a variety of authentic Japanese dishes from Sashimi to Tempura, all washed down with a piping hot cup of Green Tea (freeflow, and very kindly topped up by a conscientious aunty!). The freshly prepared silken Green Tea tofu followed by Ebi Mentai (grilled prawn with mayo) are the perfect appetizers as you await the preparation of your order.

Must tries:

  1. Sashimi (this pretty much goes without saying)
  2. Soft Shell Crab Temaki
  3. Shiitake Mushroom with Teriyaki Sauce
  4. Golden Mushrooms wrapped with Beef (absolutely yummy, but can get a little overly chewy if you know what I mean)
  5. Beef Shogay
  6. Midjoint fried chicken wings (good for lazy eaters like me)

The food comes pretty quickly after your order is placed, so make sure you eat fast or you’ll run out of space on the table. Alternatively, you can order in smaller batches. If you’re in a bigger group or desire more privacy, you can consider requesting for a private room as the restaurant can get pretty noisy at it’s fullest. Don’t forget to make a reservation in advance!
